J.D. Program

OU Law’s innovative juris doctor program allows students to specialize in their area of interest or combine their legal education with another discipline.

As a Juris Doctor student at the OU College of Law, you can choose from a dozen concentrations, including our specialties in indigenous peoples law and oil & gas, natural resources and energy law. You can enrich your experience and expand your practice options with our dual degree options.

First Year

You’ll gain a solid legal foundation during your first year as a JD student at OU Law. Our comprehensive curriculum will introduce you to civil procedure, criminal law, legal research and writing, contracts, and more. Learn more about courses.

 

Second and Third Year

In your second and third year, you’ll dive deeper into your legal studies, including taking courses in your desired area of specialty, developing professional skills, and participating in experiential learning opportunities. Learn more about upper division courses

 

Dual Degrees Option

Combine your juris doctor with another specialized degree such as an M.B.A, masters of public health, a master’s of healthcare administration, or other area of study. You can even customize your joint-degree to fit your unique interests. Explore dual degree options.
