Law Students for Africa Travel to Gulu, Uganda for Spring Break

While many students spent their spring break hitting the slopes or relaxing on the beach, a group of students from The University of Oklahoma College of Law went to Gulu, Uganda to help law students in the third world country. 

Law Students for Africa members Ally Simon, Luke Miles and Alexa Kern worked closely with the University of Gulu School of Law in Uganda and its students to create a collaborative program to build the law school.  Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Michael Scaperlanda accompanied the OU Law students.

Law Review Banquet Celebrates Accomplishments of Students

On March 31, 2014, The University of Oklahoma College of Law hosted a joint Law Review Banquet celebrating the Oklahoma Law Review (Est. 1948), American Indian Law Review (Est. 1973), and Oklahoma Journal of Law and Technology (Est. 2003).   Students, staff and faculty joined with law firm sponsors Fellers Snider, Gable Gotwals, Hall Estill and McAfee & Taft in the Kerr Student Lounge. 

The welcome and opening remarks were provided by Dean Joseph Harroz, Jr.  He joked with the students that they may wonder why they ever decided to participate on a law review.

OU LAW STUDENTS INVITED TO SPEND AN EVENING WITH THE ENERGY INDUSTRY

As a longstanding leader in the field of energy law, The University of Oklahoma College of Law continues to produce top talent for the energy industry.  As part of its program, OU Law hosts an annual “Meet the Energy Industry” event where its students have the opportunity to network with the very top energy attorneys and landmen in the oil and gas industry.

The event was held Wednesday at the Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) Gallery in downtown Oklahoma City.

Energy Professionals to Visit and Speak at OU Law

Meg Molleston, the Vice-President of GeoSouthern Energy Corporation, will be speaking at noon on April 8th in classroom 2. Ms. Molleston has vast experience and knowledge of the oil and gas industry and will provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about the industry that fuels the nation.

Accompanying Ms. Molleston will be Deborah Hubbs and Andrew Calder. Deborah Hubbs is a graduate of OU Law who serves as the General Counsel and head of business development for GeoSouthern Energy.

OU Law Students Attend Secretary of State Kerry’s Town Hall Meeting in Washington, D.C.

On March 18, four OU College of Law students (Alex Duncan, Veronica Jacob, Cassandra Kolenda, and Caroline Lewis) and Professor Evelyn Aswad attended a Town Hall meeting at the U.S. Department of State in Washington, D.C., on the topic of “Making Foreign Policy Less Foreign”.   Secretary of State John Kerry led the discussion and emphasized the importance of international law in resolving a number of global challenges, including with respect to the unfolding situation in the Ukraine.
