The Newest Members of the Class of 2017 Join OU Law for Admitted Students Day!

Anyone who has attended law school knows the months leading up to the first day can be filled with anticipation.  For 40 such students, the University of Oklahoma College of Law hosted Admitted Students Day to educate them on what their next three years will entail.  Admitted students from all over the country who have been accepted for the Class of 2017 heard from alumni, faculty, staff and current students about the OU Law experience.
The day started with an opportunity to meet fellow classmates, deans and professors at a breakfast in the Amicus Café.  The future law students then went to the Bell Courtroom where Dean Scott Palk welcomed them.  “This is a great opportunity to welcome a group of remarkable students and show them all the great things about OU Law,” Dean Palk said.
Jeb Boatman, a 2003 graduate of the OU College of Law and the Chair of the Young Alumni Board, spoke to them about various areas of law and the life of a law student.  This was followed by an introduction to Student Services and the College of Law Career Development team.  Before lunch, a panel of current students including Tara Niendorf, Hilary Moffett, and Sam Merchant joined them to answer questions from a student’s perspective.  Just before lunch Dean Joseph Harroz, Jr. spoke with students about why they should choose OU Law.
Following lunch, the prospective students attended a mock class with Professor Stephen Henderson so they could gain information from a professor’s perspective.  They then had the chance to take an OU campus tour.  The day wrapped up with a reception at Benvenuti’s where the admitted students were joined by Faculty and Young Alumni.
