Race Judicata Honors Professor Cindy M. Foley

Preparations are underway for this year’s Race Judicata Nov. 4 at OU Law. This student-run event brings together the community, Oklahoma lawyers, and OU Law students, faculty, and alumni in order to further the legacy of Professor Cindy M. Foley.

Professor Foley dedicated her life to helping people who would otherwise not have legal representation. Race Judicata staff have already begun fundraising efforts, and all proceeds from this year’s Race Judicata will be split between scholarships for students working to provide free legal aid and Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.

Fall 2012 LL.M. Enrollment More than Doubles Previous Class

The John B. Turner LL.M. Program in International Energy, Natural Resources and Indigenous Peoples welcomed a class of 16 students this fall semester, more than double the previous class.

Last year’s inaugural class was comprised of seven students from six countries. This year’s incoming class boasts 13 full-time and three part-time students from 10 countries across the globe.

The unique LL.M. degree program at OU Law allows students to tailor their courses to meet their interests.

Incoming Class Reflects Diverse Interests

The newest OU Law juris doctor class has 155 enrolled students with a variety of interests and accomplishments. A detailed look at the class demonstrates their varied backgrounds.

High academic standards are a necessity to study law at the University of Oklahoma, and the new JD class meets those standards without question. The class boasts:
• One Fulbright Scholar
• One Gates Millennium Scholar
• One ABA Legal Scholars Fund Recipient
• 54 undergraduate schools represented
• 41 undergraduate degrees represented

Students Volunteer at Regional Food Bank

On August 14, 40 OU Law students volunteered at the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma for the third-annual OU Law Gives Back orientation event at the food bank.  More than one-quarter of the entering first-year class participated.  Students boxed 9,660 pounds of food in three hours, the equivalent of 7, 430 meals.  OU Law Gives Back is organized each year by Students for Access to Justice, the student-driven pro bono and public interest group at the College of Law.  This year's student coordinator was Harrison Kosmider ('14).

OU Law Staff Joins European Tour to Recruit LL.M. Students

Law school admission representatives from 13 U.S. universities, including the University of Oklahoma College of Law, will be touring Europe this October, presenting information sessions in Madrid, Milan, and Paris.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the U.S. law school admissions process, application information, and program-specific details from law schools of the following universities:
• Boston University
• Emory University
• Hofstra University
• Northwestern University
• Tulane University
