Services
Many students benefit from the office staff's expertise and resources regarding legal careers, legal employers, available positions, and bar memberships. The Office of Professional & Career Development (OPCD) helps students and recent graduates throughout the year in the career planning and job placement process
One-on-One Counseling
An indispensable component of our services is individual counseling, which allows us to tailor the information and advice we provide for individual interest and qualifications. We work with students throughout their law school careers on issues ranging from how to translate their legal interests into career paths to figuring out where to apply, and anything in between. We also work closely with our graduates to provide counseling and networking assistance to those considering a career move.

On-Campus Interview Programs
The OPCD hosts a Fall and Spring Interview Program. These programs allow our students to consolidate the interviewing experience, while making the hiring process easier for employers. Students and employers alike utilize our online employment software known as Symplicity.
In addition to these on-campus interview opportunities, employers from throughout the United States contacted the Law School last year to post job openings and to request student resumes. For those employers who are unable to visit campus we provide the option of conducting interviews with our students via video conferencing.
Programs and Speakers
In addition to one-on-one counseling, we present numerous panels, workshops, and informational sessions for students and graduates to learn about various career paths. We host Lunch & Learn Series in which we invite lawyers from all types of practice areas to speak to our students about their careers and about opportunities with their organizations. Past programs have addressed opportunities practicing International Law, Intellectual Property, Entertainment Law, and Public Interest Law, Education Law, just to name a few.
We host mandatory 1L programs, in which students receive training and education on professionalism, career development tactics, clerking, dining etiquette, and networking.
Mock Interviews
Local attorneys volunteer to hold mock interviews with students. This is a perfect opportunity to gain valuable interview experience, and to have interview skills critiqued by a real attorney.
Resume Writing Assistance
In addition to a resume writing workshop, the OPCD meets with students on an individual basis to go over their resumes and cover letters. This one-on-one counseling can provide invaluable feedback as students begin their job search.
