Associate Dean Michael Scaperlanda Named Director of Legal Assistant Education Department

NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma Law Center recently named Associate Dean and Professor Michael Scaperlanda as director of the Legal Assistant Education department. Founded in 1968, the department leads OU Law Center’s paralegal course offerings and certificate program.
Scaperlanda graduated from the University of Texas School of Law with High Honors in 1984 and, thereafter, spent one year clerking for the chief justice of the Texas Supreme Court and four years practicing law in Washington, D.C., and Austin, Texas. Since joining the OU Law faculty in 1989, he has served as special assistant to University President, faculty fellow in the Norman Campus Provost's office and associate dean for research. Scaperlanda has also served as chair of numerous committees including the university’s Campus Tenure Committee, the college’s elected executive committee, the college's Appointments Committee, the Law Library Director Search Committee, and the College's Self-Study Committee. Additionally, he has twice coordinated the university's self-study process, leading the university through continuing accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission and the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
