Adjunct Professor C. Hayden Chapman

C. Hayden Chapman is Assistant Vice President and General Counsel for First American Title Insurance Company in Oklahoma and Vice President of First American Title & Trust Company, a subsidiary of First American Title Insurance Company. She received a B.A. Degree with Distinction in 1972 (Latin) and a J.D. Degree in 1989 from the University of Oklahoma. Before earning her law degree, Ms. Chapman was a teacher in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Dallas, Texas, public schools. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Law where she teaches the Land Title Examination course.

Ms. Chapman is a Past President of the Oklahoma City Real Property Lawyers’ Association. She is the Past Chairperson of the Real Property Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association and has served on both the Legislative Liaison Committee and the Title Examination Standards Committee of the Real Property Law Section, as well as being a member of the Mineral Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Ms. Chapman’s primary areas of responsibility with First American are as claims, corporate and underwriting counsel. She is also a licensed title insurance agent. She is a frequent presenter at Oklahoma Bar Association Real Property Seminars, First American Title Agency Seminars, as well as Oklahoma Land Title Association and related industry meetings. She has written several papers for such seminars and has authored Vernon's Oklahoma Forms 2d Real Estate, Chapter 7 – Recording Procedures and Abstracting (2000).
