Stanley L. Evans joined The University of Oklahoma College of Law as the Assistant Dean, immediately after law school graduation. He entered law school at the age of 52 after almost 32 years of active Army service. Dean Evans rose to the rank of Colonel and previously held positions as Dean of Students and Administration of the U.S. Army's Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth Kansas; and as Garrison Commander of Fort Leavenworth Kansas.

Assistant Dean Evans has commanded at every level of the Army through brigade level, culminating with command of Fort Leavenworth where his command twice won the Malcolm Baldrige $75,000 cash award as the second best installation in the United States Army.

As former Dean of the Command and General Staff College, he was responsible for initiating a $126 million dollar construction project for the new Lewis and Clark Education Center and for developing an automation system that will service the needs of the attending officers, staff and faculty well into the 21st Century.

He is a Vietnam veteran, and has had several tours in the Washington D.C., area. Assistant Dean Evans returned to Oklahoma in 2000, with his wife Saundra, who is an elementary school teacher.

In addition to his duties as Assistant Dean, Evans was appointed by the Governor as a Chairman of the Oklahoma Human Rights Commission, and for six years was on the Board of Trustees of the University of Saint Mary, in Kansas.

His major military awards include the Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and Bronze Star. He also is in the Fort Sill Oklahoma Officer Candidate School Hall of Fame, and was awarded the Silver Order of Mercury by the U.S. Army Signal Regiment. In 2009, he was received the Toastmasters International Communication and Leadership Award for exemplary service to his Community, State, and Nation, and he received the Governor of Oklahoma's Commendation Award in 2003.

He has served on the school board of Anchorage, Alaska, and has been recognized as "Man of the Year" by organizations in both Tyler, Texas, and Leavenworth, Kansas. He has also written several articles for military and legal publications.

Assistant Dean Evans was admitted to the bar in 2003 and is licensed to practice law in Oklahoma.
