OU Law Hosts International Trade and Investment Guest Speaker

February 17, 2017 | By Mackenzie Dilbeck, Director of Communications
The Business Law Society, the Oklahoma International Law Society, and Professor Evelyn Aswad recently hosted Jennifer Springer, the director of International Trade and Foreign Investment at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, to speak at the College of Law. Ms. Springer manages the trade and foreign direct investment branches of the Global Services division at the Oklahoma Department of Commerce as well as overseeing the three trade offices located worldwide. She spoke of her work in promoting international trade and investment opportunities for the state and Oklahoma’s exporting companies as well as the significant benefits for Oklahoma’s economy.

"Hearing from Ms. Springer was rather eye-opening," said Business Law Society Founder and President Dan Sloat. "At times it can be easy to think international law and affairs won’t impact our people or our local economy. As it turns out, there is significant growth in international business opportunities here and, as the world becomes ever more globalized, it is critical that our community can rely on Oklahoma lawyers who are well versed in applicable international treaties."
