Meet the Class OF 2015

Amelia Coates

Seminole, Oklahoma

1. Where did you grow up?

I was raised on a ranch 10 miles outside of Seminole, Oklahoma.

2. Where did you attend undergrad?

My first two years were spent at Seminole State College, where I was concurrently enrolled while still in high school, and my last two years I finished at Oklahoma Baptist University.

3. What degree(s) have you earned?

I have a Bachelor's degree in Applied Communication.

4. Why did you choose to attend OU Law?

My decision to come to OU for my legal education was made by a combination of factors: outstanding academics, small class sizes and the honor of being a part of the Sooner Tradition!

5. What is your favorite thing about OU?

I absolutely love the vibe you get from being on campus. Norman is such a cool town, and the people I've met throughout the application process have been very engaging and personable. I'm so excited to be on campus and immersed in the culture.

6. What (or who) inspired you to pursue a legal education?

My mom has always told me since I was little that I would be a great lawyer because I love to argue. This idea was reinforced by participating in debates in my college courses and discussing defamation and copyright laws in my Media Ethics class. I realized pursuing a law degree would enable me to help people through my career and give me a job I would be passionate about.

7. What is an interesting fact about you?

My college education started when I was a junior in high school through concurrent enrollment at Seminole State. I loved the academic challenge of taking college courses, and by the end of my senior year I obtained 62 hours. This has allowed me to complete my undergraduate degree within two years of graduating high school.
