Calera, Oklahoma

1. Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Calera, Oklahoma, which is a small town just north of the Oklahoma/Texas border.

2. Where did you attend undergrad?

I attended Oklahoma State University and Southeastern Oklahoma State University for undergrad.

3. What degree(s) have you earned?

Bachelor of Arts with a double major in English and Marketing

4. Why did you choose to attend OU Law?

For the past few years, I have been teaching English Language Arts in Oklahoma's public school system. I chose to attend OU because I am interested in working in education law. I enjoyed my time in the classroom as a teacher, but I would like to work on a larger scale to support the interests of educators and students in our state; I believe a law degree from OU will help me achieve this goal.

5. What is your favorite thing about OU?

Growing up in a family of OSU grads, I have thought of OU primarily as a competitor in the Big XII. However, my favorite thing about OU so far is how friendly everyone has been. I’m excited to learn more about the campus and culture of OU.

6. What (or who) inspired you to pursue a legal education?

Working as a public school teacher has inspired me to pursue a legal education. America’s education system is facing ever-increasing challenges. I am interested in learning more about the legal and policy issues that affect the future of our nation’s schools.

7. What is an interesting fact about you?

I love to travel any time I get a chance—I have visited 47 states and 7 countries. I enjoy learning about and experiencing other cultures, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of places I’d like to visit.
