On April 4, 2012, the University of Oklahoma College of Law hosted the Meet the Energy Industry Event at Bricktown Brewery in Oklahoma City. In the past, this networking event has generously been sponsored by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation each year. This year, Anadarko invited other corporate energy sponsors to participate and were joined by Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Continental Resources, and Devon Energy Corporation.
More than 100 attorneys, landmen and students gathered to discuss careers and current events in the energy industry. Dean Joe Harroz offered remarks regarding the remarkable contribution of the corporate energy sponsors to OU Law including scholarships, internships and job offerings. The Dean informed the audience that in excess of 10 percent of OU Law graduates are entering careers in the energy industry, and the school expects that number to continue to grow.
The College of Law now offers six specialized energy related courses and is completing its first year of offering the John B. Turner LL.M. Program, extending the school’s longstanding history of excellence and expertise in energy law, natural resources law and indigenous peoples law. OU Law is grateful to the corporate sponsors, attorneys and landmen who chose to attend this wonderful event and share their expertise of the industry with current students.
