Meet the Class of 2015
Marc YoungNorman, Oklahoma
1. Where did you grow up?
I was born in Altus, Oklahoma, but I grew up mostly in Norman.
2. Where did you attend undergrad?
University of Oklahoma
3. What degree(s) have you earned?
Bachelor of Arts
4. Why did you choose to attend OU Law?
I have many wonderfully rich memories as an undergraduate at the University of Oklahoma, and having lived in the Middle East and Washington, D.C., among other places, I knew OU offered exactly what I wanted right here at home. The University of Oklahoma College of Law is a prestigious institution, but my decision was predicated mostly and validated completely by the superb personal attention provided by the faculty and staff and the amazing sense of community at the law school.
5. What is your favorite thing about OU?
While I have season football tickets and Sooner football is a mild obsession, my favorite thing is the amazing people I have met through the years – faculty, staff and fellow students – and the knowledge that I will meet many more wonderful people while at the College of Law.
6. What (or who) inspired you to pursue a legal education?
Reading John Locke in High School inspired me to read a multitude of political philosophers and philosophies and to embark on an exploration of the foundations of our society and origins of government. At its root is the law. This personal journey and my experiences in my career in public service and as a soldier inspired me to finally pursue what I have always longed to do – the study of law.
7. What is an interesting fact about you?
I have run for State Senate in Oklahoma – but possibly more interesting is that I like to spin music as a DJ.
