The 1LS (First-year Law Summer Start) Program is a summer program for a select group of admitted students that runs from late May to mid-July. The focus of the 1LS Program is to give a first look at law school and provide the opportunity to earn law school credits during the summer. Students will take a course typically offered in the fall of their first year of law school, and a Legal Methods class. Students participating in the 1LS Program benefit from the opportunity to begin law school early and lighten their course and final exam loads for the Fall semester.
The 1LS students take courses from some of our very best professors. The program is not provisional in any way; students admitted through 1LS automatically matriculate in the fall with other first-year students. The 1LS students simply arrive and begin classes earlier than the rest of the class.
The deadline for 1LS Program applications is March 15, but early application is encouraged. Seats in the program are filled first come-first serve. The class fills quickly. Interested applicants must apply for both 1LS and Fall admission on the OU Law application. Click here for information about tuition and fees for the 1LS Program.
